Was searching for new SEO innovations when I found this one. Interesting, but do you think it has a long shelf life?

Ryan,

I agree with you that wordtracker does a very poor job of giving accurate results. Well it is good for giving you a "conservative" estimate of traffic, it should be used with other traffic estimators. This tool, as mentioned in the post, seems like it too should be thrown into the mix. I think you should use at least 3 tools then average them out.

My suspicion is they will move the keyword analysis portion into their more research driven service google.com/trends and sooner than later take away the KeywordToolExternal service. Especially when wanting to analyze periodic changes in keyword search density.

Also, remember they released previously last month that they are now admitting to match searches to previous activity on the web. Hence it is reasonable to assume the importance of an ad optimization to be more automatic in the future. Perhaps that's what they are whispering when doing changes like this.

But then again. Sick things are happening with the serps right now also which indicates that there is something big coming up if not allready undergoing.

I especially appreciate the "Website content" option as I've used this to find what searches Google is associating with the content of my site. I found searches that I have no content written to capture the search. I then simply create the content to garner the traffic.

Another great tool, also not widely known, is http://www.google.com/sktool/#

I read about this tool in an SEO forum a little over a month ago. This is a sweet tool that provides drastically different results than the free keyword tracking tool that WordTracker provides. Like you said, the information needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but it is still pretty interesting to see.
