Opening up the algorithm, as you said, would send the walls tumbling down.

If I ran Digg, I would open up the algorithm for all to see, then change it after a week-long scramble of late-night deciphering, claiming that the experiment failed and too many people started gaming.

Give, then take away. Total abuse of power. It would be fun.

		<description>I agree that a few have the Digg algorithm down to a simple science. I am also one of the others is still puzzled on how a few select people have cracked the Digg Code.

But then some of those select people could also have shills or themselves be shills that push the limits to achieve a front page post.

It is just an algorithm after all and as in any code it can be cracked.
