Infographic designer

graphicdesign
What are we looking for in an infographic designer?
To have a strong understanding of
  • Typography, and how to use it effectively.
  • Well versed in Illustrator.
  • Able to understand and interpret data presented in a flow, well enough to be able to visually represent that information in an easy to understand format.
  • Able to come up with ideas on creative ways to compare data presented.
(For example if the provided data said “An ‘X’ weighs 1.5 tons – a helpful skill to have would be, to be able to come up with a few creative ways to explain that, that are relevant to the infographic topic.  such as…
a twinkie weighs 17 grams
1 pound = 453.592 grams
453.592 / 17 = 26.6818823529
26.6818823529 twinkies is one pound.
one ton = 2,000 pounds
26.6818823529 * 3,000
80,045.6470587 twinkies = 1.5 tons
At that point, the graphic might call for things to be related by size as well. – you could then figure size to be displayed based on Twinkie dimensions.
A twinkie is 1.1 inch by 3.9 inch by 1.5 inch. By volume twinkies are 68 percent air!)
What we would need when applying for the position is a portfolio of previous digital work – physical work such as painting / graphite / pen etc skills Could be helpful, but not as much if they don’t translate into digital work.
That being said. we are open to talented artist of various skill sets. We want you to bring your own style with you, not conform to a style you think we would like to see.
