Fellow Ad Age Power 150 member Eyecube, aka Rick Liebling put out a periodic table of social media elements:
While it’s getting a bit of criticism (yes, social media doesn’t have anything to do with the periodic table of elements), that’s not what it is all about. It is a good thing to think in creative terms. I’m a big fan of visualizations, so this was right up my alley:
The only frustrating thing about it is trying to figure out what all the symbols mean! Don’t punish yourself, here they are:

This is great Brian! Thanks to Rick for putting it together and you for sharing it. It’s a fantastic visual display of the social media landscape. Also a ton of valuable links to explore. I will definitely pass it on to my eBoot Campers! Thanks again!

Excellent post! Thanks for sharing, I will be back again soon.
First of all congratulation on your success in writing here. You have written
this blog very excellently , Are you a chemistry? LOL
I love the concept and the creative thought underlying this article. That said, I must point one major omission from the above lists that, in my opinion, without which this otherwise fine post is incomplete.
I am speaking of Mixx.com, which right now is the standalone model for all-around excellence and by far the best site/community in the entire social media sphere. If Stumbleupon, Digg, Facebook and Delicious are going to be listed under the “Social Media Tools” category, it is a disservice to your readers to not include Mixx along with the above listed sites. Mixx has far surpassed Digg in the social news/photo/video arena, and has now implemented a plethora of new feature that practically render Facebook obsolete.
Bottom line: Mixx is a site worth paying attention to, and certainly one that deserved to be mentioned along with the others on the relevant list.
Fat Lesters last blog post..Update on Meg Whitman Domain Name Dispute
@Fat Lester: agreed, Mixx should have been on the list. I was simply making our readers aware of @eyecube’s list.

I love this idea. I can’t wait to turn it into a t-shirt for the next SoMe gathering in town. But I would have to have explanations on the back of course.

Hi this article was very interesting for me. But it was difficult to find it with ask. Maybe you should improve it with seo plugins for wordpress like headspace. Just a tip 😉
