Reddit Layout Changes

reddit-layout-changesWhen signing into Reddit this morning and viewing a submission’s commentary, you may notice a slight change to the site’s familiar sidebar. A percentage is now given, detailing the proportion of voters who enjoyed the post. This makes gauging the community’s reception of an article that much easier. You’ll also notice that the moderators of a given subreddit have a more prominent placing on the site. This will save you a click the next time one of your links vanishes from a category.

So, what do you think of the changes? We really like the moderators being placed in the sidebar and the percentage aspect of monitoring a post’s success. Think there is anything Reddit may have overlooked in adding to the sidebar?

That’s my main beef with Reddit right there. Despite having 10s of thousands of subscribers, some big subreddits are showing as few as one new link an hour. I’m not even sure if its the moderators or the auto-filter, but submissions by subreddit are increasingly controlled by a few users and a few domains. I’m still a major Reddit addict, but I miss the days when the new page would fill up twice before you had a chance to read or comment on your five favorite headlines.

Anyway, don’t want to go too far off topic here… the new look is nice, but its all data that was already visible. Of course, even saving a few clicks can be a blessing for the servers and the users’ experience.

Great feature! Reddit users will surely find it very useful. They can easily update themselves on the performance result of their post unlike before.
